Mesa Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This temple is located off of LeSueur St just east of the original Mesa Townsite and was the first temple built in the State of Arizona. The Mesa Arizona Temple was announced in 1919 and completed and dedicated in 1927 by President Heber J Grant, the President of the Church at that time.
The temple sits on 20 acres and has a lovely garden atmosphere that features citrus trees and native Arizona Cactus and palm trees that frame the temple architecture.
The temple is just over 113,000 square feet and is one of 3 temples in the church that do not have a spire or steeple (the other two temples without spires are the Cardston Alberta Temple and the Laie Hawaii Temple). The Mesa Arizona Temple was the 7th operating temple in the Church.
