Delicate Arch is one of the most famous natural rock arches in the world. It is located in Arches National Park near Moab Utah and is an icon on many of the National Park brochures and advertisements and the images that Utah uses to promote the state. The Delicate arch is even available to be on the license plates for cars in Utah.
Delicate arch is not one of the more accessible arches in Arches National Park. You can see the arch in the distance from a roadway, but to sit under the arch, it is a 3 mile hike one way. The best light is during the magic hours of early morning or just before dusk. Typically, there are a group of photographers attempting to get an amazing shot of this natural wonder in the early morning and late evening. The photographers come alone or on tours. They can get pretty irritated as they are trying to compose their shots and tourists are walking underneath and posing by the arch. It is definitely interesting to watch the process unfold as the photographers compete with the tourists for shots of this iconic landscape.
